چکیده

We investigate quantitative properties of nonnegative solutions u(t, x) ≥ 0 to the nonlinear fractional diffusion equation, ∂tu + LF (u) = 0 posed in a bounded domain, x ∈ Ω ⊂ R , with appropriate homogeneous Dirichlet boundary conditions. As L we can use a quite general class of linear operators that includes the two most common versions of the fractional Laplacian (−∆), 0 < s < 1, in a bounded domain with zero Dirichlet boundary conditions, but it also includes many other examples since our theory only needs some basic properties that are typical of “linear heat semigroups”. The nonlinearity F is assumed to be increasing and is allowed to be degenerate, the prototype is the power case F (u) = |u|m−1u, with m > 1 . In this paper we propose a suitable class of solutions of the equation, and cover the basic theory: we prove existence, uniqueness of such solutions, and we establish upper bounds of two forms (absolute bounds and smoothing effects), as well as weighted-L estimates. The class of solutions is very well suited for that work. The standard Laplacian case s = 1 is included and the linear case m = 1 can be recovered in the limit. In a companion paper [12], we will complete the study with more advanced estimates, like the upper and lower boundary behaviour and Harnack inequalities, for which the results of this paper are needed.

Remarks on the fractional Laplacian with Dirichlet boundary conditions and applications

We prove nonlinear lower bounds and commutator estimates for the Dirichlet fractional Laplacian in bounded domains. The applications include bounds for linear drift-diffusion equations with nonlocal dissipation and global existence of weak solutions of critical surface quasi-geostrophic equations.

Iterative scheme to a coupled system of highly nonlinear fractional order differential equations

In this article, we investigate sufficient conditions for existence of maximal and minimal solutions to a coupled system of highly nonlinear differential equations of fractional order with mixed type boundary conditions. To achieve this goal, we apply monotone iterative technique together with the method of upper and lower solutions. Also an error estimation is given to check the accuracy of th...

Existence, Uniqueness and Asymptotic behaviour for fractional porous medium equations on bounded domains

We consider nonlinear diffusive evolution equations posed on bounded space domains, governed by fractional Laplace-type operators, and involving porous medium type nonlinearities. We establish existence and uniqueness results in a suitable class of solutions using the theory of maximal monotone operators on dual spaces. Then we describe the long-time asymptotics in terms of separate-variables s...

Existence and uniqueness of an attractive nonlinear diffusion system

We establish the existence and uniqueness of an attractive fractional coupled system. Such a system has applications in biological populations of cells. We confirm that the fractional system under consideration admits a global solution in the Sobolev space. The solution is shown to be unique. The technique is founded on analytic method of the fixed point theory and the fractional differential o...
